Community Meeting 20100109

[12:01] Ina Centaur: Hi!
[12:01] Constantine Paulino: hello
[12:01] Marvin Dailey: Hi! ?
[12:01] Agatha Klees: hello
[12:01] AK Verne: hi
[12:01] AvadaKedavra Serpente: Hi
[12:02] Blackfriars Events Summoner whispers: SCHEDULE
Saturday, Jan 09 @ 1200 SLT: SLSC Community Meeting #1
[12:02] Ina Centaur: Welcome to our inaugural community meeting...
[12:03] Ina Centaur: The main purpose of this meeting is to see how you guys would like to get involved with the SLSC, and to present our problems to you (lol!)
[12:03] Ina Centaur: This meeting will be in text chat... recorded @ http://community.slshakespeare.com/transcript/20100109/Courier%20New
[12:04] Ina Centaur: for those just arriving - welcome, please take a seat
[12:06] Ina Centaur: For the first part of the meeting, I want to give a brief overview of SLSC - this should just be a memory-jogger/reminder for most of you... http://SLshakespeare.com/press
[12:07] Ina Centaur: to text-chat summarize it (though the link contains pics, pr's and more) ...
[12:07] Ina Centaur: we are the premier virtual theatre company in SL -- with our own niche with our rather extravant take on presenting the Bard's plays
[12:07] SLSC Meeting Daemon: Feste Fallen clicked me...
[12:08] Ina Centaur: if you zoom around the Blackfriars, you can see some of our past playbills on the walls
[12:08] Ina Centaur: (and, if you click behind me, the Agenda Daemon will send you a list of links for you to peruse)
[12:08] Ina Centaur: (don't worry - it won't overwhelm you - just the 3 most relevant to our current meeting;-))
[12:08] SLSC Meeting Daemon: Feste Fallen clicked me...
[12:09] SLSC Meeting Daemon: Marvin Dailey clicked me...
[12:10] Ina Centaur: well, since we're in the Blackfriars... a rather cozy environment... i'd like to make this meeting more interactive, rather than me presenting and text-chat typing my fingers off ;-)
[12:10] Ina Centaur: i see both new faces here and old ones... so my question is -- what do *you* think the SLSC is... and what have you seen of the SLSC?
[12:11] Ina Centaur: agatha, ak, rob, robbie, constantine, avadakedavra, asha, marvin, feste?
[12:11] Ina Centaur waves hi to everyone here :-)
[12:11] AvadaKedavra Serpente waves back
[12:11] Asha Tharnaby: Hey
[12:11] Constantine Paulino: waves back :)
[12:12] Rob Bukowski: Well, personally i think the SLSC is great. I saw a play a while back....I think it was macbeth......i was amazed. Actually i am involved in something similar. I am an SL wrestler, so i kind of have to act myself, so i appreciate what you guys do here
[12:12] Agatha Klees: I found SLSC few months ago and I wanted to see one of the plays, but I lost them all, so I'm here for curiosity and expevtation
[12:12] Marvin Dailey: ok... i was walking at Globe Theatre... i became curious about a acting company in sl.
[12:13] AvadaKedavra Serpente: I think I joined a year ago.. kept meaning to come to one of the shows.. never did. :\ Want to be more involved.
[12:13] Feste Fallen: irl I'm taking a graduate class on Shakespeare and Performance. The class is interested in how virtual performance works.
[12:13] Robbie Spiritor: im newb was SLSC was recomended
[12:14] Asha Tharnaby: It's the first time I come here, I am so curious... The theater is beautiful :)
[12:14] Ina Centaur: yes, the Scottish Play was done by Pixel Players - our cabaret-style perform group... it's not our main canon. for our main canon, we put in an insane amount of ... well.. *everything* to it - so far we've only had two main's - Hamlet and Twelfth Night - http://playbills.SLshakespeare.com
[12:14] Rob Bukowski: I think in a place like sl that is mostly made up of shops and clubs, the slsc is something unique that really stands out
[12:15] Ina Centaur: we've also had a few other third party performers try shows at the SL Globe Theatre (the big 4-sim historical replica of Shakespeare's Globe) ... and Blackfriars Theatre (this sculpty-insane theatre you're at now!)
[12:15] Constantine Paulino: what are you doing this year. and when are auditions?
[12:15] Ina Centaur: SLSC has not performed a main canon since we closed our Open-Ended Run of Twelfth Night in June of 2009... we started with regular audiences of 150+ for each biweekly show... eventually just so few people came to our shows, we had to stop
[12:16] Ina Centaur: but our theatres and facilities have been used for various other events
[12:16] AK Verne: I saw many ad in Open Latte and Shakespeare library, that place doesnt exist anymore
[12:17] Ina Centaur: the SLSC is somewhat of an outlier in that there really is no one who would put in such effort the way we do our main canon performances...
[12:17] Ina Centaur: ... but for those doing theatre research, we also support a variety of other performances, so there should be various styles and setups to compare with
[12:17] Ina Centaur: basically, the SLSC is primarily known for virtual theatre, but to do that (to be that well known? semi-wellknown i guess o.O) - there's actually a rather extensive infrastructure with regards to facilities
[12:18] Ina Centaur: this entire Shakespeare island sim - historical replicas of architecture significant in Shakespeare's lifetime ... and also our two main performance venues: Blackfriars Theatre and SL Globe Theatre
[12:19] Ina Centaur: SLSC is a nonprofit, fiscally sponsored by sLiterary, Inc, dedicated to furthering the arts in virtual worlds, whose slogan is to help create "what Second Life can be" ... and, well, the sLiterary sims, so far, have involved virtually no commerce, just pure art
[12:20] Ina Centaur: but, the problem is that SL does not support the arts in this way... you notice that most art sims eventually have to succumb to renting out for merchant shops and such.
[12:21] Ina Centaur: but before i move onto the next agenda topic.. i'll finish answering the 2 remaining questions aboev..
[12:21] Ina Centaur: this year, we are planning to finishing Twelfth Night, and to start on King Lear
[12:22] Ina Centaur: open auditions are coming up for Twelfth Night, however, for rehearsals beginning on Feb 1, show opening in March
[12:22] Rob Bukowski: King Lear is something I am very interested in taking part of when t does happen
[12:23] Ina Centaur: wonderful :-) ... we'll talk about Lear later
[12:24] Ina Centaur: the main purpose of this meeting though is to focus on our admin/financial problems... so, to do that i'm going to give a brief gloss of our status quo
[12:24] Ina Centaur: so, we have al ot of stuff, and again, for those dropping in just now - check out http://SLshakespeare.com/press to jog your memory or to find out more...
[12:25] Ina Centaur: but...
[12:25] Ina Centaur: we are "run by an artistic director (read: artistic despot)" - which means that, aside from the tier boost from our 2009 SOS Campaign (though I'm guilty for contributing quite a bit to it...), I've been the person singularly responsible for both financing and creating the the SLSC, its productions, its buildings, and infrastructure.
[12:25] Ina Centaur: and that's the huge admission bit on my part >.<
[12:25] Rob Bukowski: wow, that's amazing
[12:25] Ina Centaur: but, aside from that the two main points of the status quo are:
[12:26] Ina Centaur: 1) We are not funded by any external sources. We have been raising all of our funds from inworld means.
[12:26] Ina Centaur: 2) We are also staffed by volunteers, but they get plenty of fringe benefits. ;-)
[12:26] Ina Centaur: for 1) ... you might be wondering how we're funded by inworld sources ... and what these inworld sources paid for
[12:27] Ina Centaur: The main thing our funds go to paying is actually our nonprofit/Edu island tier: US$150/month for the three sLiterary sims - sLiterary, Shakespeare, and Primtings -- paid 6 months in advance. Our tier due-date is mid-Feb.
[12:27] Ina Centaur: our most successful fundraiser was our SOS Campaign @ http://campaign.Slshakespeare.com
[12:28] Ina Centaur: we managed to raise the amount for 12 months tier for 3 nonprofit/edu island sims ... albeit many months after our initial fundraising goal/deadline
[12:28] Ina Centaur: *sorry US$150/month/island sim... which amounts to US$450/month for the 3
[12:29] Ina Centaur: we also have a benefits-based campaign with booklet @ http://slshakespeare.com/sponsorship
[12:29] Ina Centaur: ALL public funds are accounted for and reported to http://transparency.SLshakespeare.com
[12:30] Ina Centaur: and... if you click on that SLSC Transparency link... you'd see that while we were lucky enough to raise funds to pay for tier in 2009, we're almost out... and our impending tier deadline is coming up in mid Feb!
[12:30] Ina Centaur: (panic! hehe)
[12:30] Agatha Klees whispers: ouch!
[12:30] AvadaKedavra Serpente: oh dear.
[12:30] Rob Bukowski: wow
[12:31] Ina Centaur: well, so anyway, i try to not let the near-impossibility of creating something purely for the art get stifled by the immense burden of paying island tier...
[12:32] Ina Centaur: so, i'd like to re-iterate that this meeting is both about fundraising ideas/advice/suggestion ... and volunteer/event ideas/advice/suggestion :-)
[12:32] Ina Centaur: and now, i'd like to open the floor to you guys! ... if you have any ideas or suggestions/advice or questions on any of the two topics above, please do say something:-)
[12:33] Agatha Klees: I'm not sure, but I know LL donate sims for sailing community
[12:33] AvadaKedavra Serpente: when in Feb is tier due?
[12:33] : Constantine Paulino has left their chair.
[12:33] Ina Centaur: well, those are openspaces sim...and i think the sailing sims were supposed to use the donated ocean sims as empty sims
[12:34] Ina Centaur: i've inquired with adam (the LL rep in charge of the LL/Community Partnership) - and, it's my understanding that LL does not provide free sims for long-term builds
[12:34] Agatha Klees: yes, empty.. of course, but a lot of them... is different but seems LL can donate or help for non proft
[12:34] Agatha Klees: aww, well... guess no
[12:35] Ina Centaur: Feb 20 is our big deadline
[12:35] AvadaKedavra Serpente: Hmm.
[12:35] Feste Fallen: would it be possible to market these theatres to a museum/university as a teaching tool?
[12:35] Rob Bukowski: How about selling advertising space on the walls for other businesses to advertise on? The sl sports entertainment group i am apart of does that and has had quite a few groups pay for advertsing space
[12:36] Ina Centaur: well, last year, when it became apparent that RL funding orgs - nat'l endowment of humanities, etc, just aren't interested in sponsoring humanities/art projects on SL
[12:36] Ina Centaur: that's when we launched the SOS Campaign
[12:36] AvadaKedavra Serpente: Feste has a good idea..
[12:36] Ina Centaur: but, the thing is... it took way too long to raise that amount... and though we still haven't been able to get any RL funding, we'd like to avoid doing that whole SOS thing again
[12:36] AvadaKedavra Serpente: but that sounds long term
[12:36] Ina Centaur: maybe a more benefits-based fundraiser... or at least a new fundraier name o.O
[12:36] AvadaKedavra Serpente: we need something immediate.
[12:37] : Marvin Dailey has left their chair.
[12:37] Ina Centaur: rob, i'm considering renting out the box seating areas with advertising space in the back walls - letting patrons own a small parcel of land in the blackfriars theatre
[12:37] Ina Centaur: as well as in the globe - and also other buildings in the Shakespeare sim
[12:37] Rob Bukowski: Another way is to hold themed events, like parties witha aparticular theme to them and set up donation boxes so people who come can donate lindens if they want
[12:38] AvadaKedavra Serpente: ooh... a Valentines Day dance.. Romeo and Juliet theme
[12:38] Ina Centaur: the big challenge is raising the tier 6 month in advance. nonprofit/edu sims are 50% discounted, but caveat of 6 month payment in advance does tend to make the # look scary! :-|
[12:38] Rob Bukowski: exactly! something like that wopuld attract quite a few people
[12:38] Agatha Klees: in sl what is selling a lot of fashion, sadly, but fashion shows are very demanded... of course, rent this sim for that would be good
[12:38] Ina Centaur: ooh party...
[12:39] AvadaKedavra Serpente: make it a costume ball.. get some of the period designers in..
[12:39] Ina Centaur: well, for the most part, we offer all venues for free to people - including fashion folk types...
[12:40] Feste Fallen: i'm seeing visions of a steampunk/renaissance fashion how
[12:40] Feste Fallen: show*
[12:40] Ina Centaur: you also have to remember that SL isn't RL... people often can't afford to rent a venue for a event... and further, there's LOTS of competition. too many venues on SL, not even event-holders!
[12:40] Ina Centaur: and, incidentally, that's also another criticism we've received... that we don't hold enough events...
[12:40] Rob Bukowski: and, I know you said you were kind of against this earlier, but setting up shop space for merchants to rent would be helpful. Its a good way to make lindens.
[12:41] Asha Tharnaby: That's true, but I've seen people pay so much money on the events of poor quality...
[12:41] Ina Centaur: well, we could resort to shop spaces, but then there's the problem of finding a dedicated rental manager. would anyone be interested?
[12:42] Ina Centaur: and on the valentines party - superb idea! we actually already have R&J avatars dressed up from our Shakespeare on Ice last year
[12:42] AvadaKedavra Serpente: what would it involve?
[12:43] Ina Centaur: well, i think most SL merchants want to see both traffic and shopper-traffic near their stores... so the rental manager would have to make the merchants want to stay by somehow working on traffic and making sure the merchant has enough ROI
[12:44] Ina Centaur: what we can provide is more shows, but the thing is... more shows doesn't necessarily mean shopper traffic... in fact, we often have schools bring in their students, most of whom don't have a $L to spare!
[12:44] AvadaKedavra Serpente: hmm.
[12:44] Ina Centaur: so, there's a bit of complexity involved in getting merchants involved in helping to pitch-into tier
[12:44] Rob Bukowski: Another fun thing that I think would suit the theme of this place and would be a unique type of event is maybe a weekly "mystery night" where there is a particular story and people must go around searching for clues as to waht happened. Eg: who commited a murder, stuff like that. And maybe u could have people pay a small amount for certain tthings they might need to particuipate
[12:45] Ina Centaur: we'd need more staffing, minimally. (truth-be-told, i don't think i can handle being all that i currently am + rental manager.)
[12:45] AvadaKedavra Serpente: I'd be willing to help. Ina.. I just have no idea where to start. lol
[12:45] Ina Centaur: because there's rental income, the position would be a paid position, if that helps.. though, SL pay isn't going to be RL pay, so if it's just pay that motivates you, it might not be very satisfying.
[12:46] Agatha Klees: we can organize fairs or hunts
[12:46] Agatha Klees: i dont know, just giving ideas
[12:46] Ina Centaur: fairs and hunts are good ideas - and should help bring in diverse traffic
[12:47] Agatha Klees: like a fair of vintage clothing, dont know...
[12:47] Ina Centaur: hmm for unique type of events - there's always the difficulty with finding people to host them... but if you're up for hosting an event, or have ideas -- all our venues are open! :-)
[12:47] Rob Bukowski: Thats kind of waht i was saying. Like have a hunt with a particular themer or story to it. Like someone murdered someone, and people must go around looking for clues as to who did it
[12:48] Asha Tharnaby: awesome idea
[12:48] Agatha Klees: Rob's idea is good, but we need a lot of time to organize it
[12:48] AvadaKedavra Serpente: I know what you're stauing Rob.. but I think the fashion community has hunted-out most SL'ers.
[12:48] Agatha Klees: but I think is good one
[12:48] Ina Centaur: yup, keep in mind that there's time expenditure...
[12:48] Rob Bukowski: true
[12:48] AvadaKedavra Serpente: It may be worth looking into though..
[12:48] Ina Centaur: but, one of the two main purposes of this meeting *is* to find volunteers who's love a creative use of their time ;-)
[12:49] Ina Centaur: we do have many resources to help you though - the SLSC facilities, our actor avatars, website, etc.
[12:49] Agatha Klees: I want help in what you need, for sure
[12:50] Ina Centaur: so, let's try going with... what would *you* like to do
[12:50] Ina Centaur: types of things you'd enjoy doing... as well as things that you'd rather not do..
[12:51] Ina Centaur: (with regards to what you'd have time for)
[12:51] AvadaKedavra Serpente: I think the Valentine's Day dance could be fun.
[12:51] AvadaKedavra Serpente: And we could do that soon.
[12:51] Ina Centaur: yup, so what would you like to do @ the Valentines Dance
[12:52] Ina Centaur: and what else should the Dance have?
[12:52] Agatha Klees: yes, I think people will come if we have shows, gift, etc etc
[12:52] Ina Centaur: (welcome to those just dropping in - hi kitka and xantho ... please click the black box behind me to catch up on links)
[12:52] Xantho Muhindra: okay thanks
[12:53] SLSC Meeting Daemon: Xantho Muhindra clicked me...
[12:54] Ina Centaur: any ideas on what events/features the Dance might have - or how you'd like to help the Valentines Dance?
[12:54] AvadaKedavra Serpente: I'm thinking.. lol.
[12:55] AK Verne: i dont want be the bad element here, but... thinking in time, we have to do everything in 2 weeks to have 2 weeks to advertise
[12:56] Ina Centaur: well, our Hostage Fundraiser back in summer 2008 raised L$250,000 in a single day
[12:56] AvadaKedavra Serpente: Ywah
[12:56] Ina Centaur: that's enough to pay for 6 months island tier for a single nonprofit/edu sim
[12:56] Ina Centaur: so, hoping to have one event help raise tier to keep at least one island sim might not be too impossible
[12:57] Rob Bukowski: I can get the commentators on our wrestling shows to mention the event. They do that all the time. We usually have a good turnout bto shows, and we are on sl tv so alot of people can find out about the event that way
[12:57] Ina Centaur: we still have more than a month left before Feb 14/thereabouts... so, there's enough time to publicize a big St. Valentines Eve Dance
[12:58] Ina Centaur: rob, incidentally, what do you think of trying out historical wrestling?
[12:58] AK Verne: jeeze, that would be fun
[12:58] Rob Bukowski: Well, that is actually a good idea
[12:59] Rob Bukowski: i think something like that would be successful. The wrestling community on sl is a big one, and i think that would be a unique take on it
[12:59] Asha Tharnaby: Do you think it might be useful to contact the major vendors who have followed blogs, and ask them to host your own banner publicizing events?
[12:59] Feste Fallen: There's a bear-baiting joke in there somewhere...
[13:00] Ina Centaur: (in fact, we were hoping to hold bear-baiting events regularly at the Rose Theatre, on the southeast side of this sim)
[13:00] Ina Centaur: wonders at avatar-baiting ;-)
[13:00] AvadaKedavra Serpente: lol
[13:00] Ina Centaur: seems kind of like the impersonalization of SL drama o.O
[13:00] Ina Centaur: direct symbolic representation of even..
[13:01] Ina Centaur: hee
[13:01] Rob Bukowski: lol
[13:01] Ina Centaur: asha: contacting vendors is also a good idea, but it'd take time though - would you be willing to do that?
[13:02] Asha Tharnaby: Why not
[13:02] Ina Centaur: as for using Shakespeare venues to host ads, that's also an idea.. but i'm wondering who would actually pay for them. most SL merchants/SL biz target fashion/mainstream venues.. so the task would, again, be having someone go on a crusade finding the eclectic bunch of advertisers who'd want such a venue!
[13:03] Rob Bukowski: How about applying for showcase listinmg? If people see a place is on the showcase, they'd wnat to advertise there, as showcase places attract people becaus ethey are prominantley lised
[13:03] Ina Centaur: oh, we're already in showcases ;-)
[13:03] Rob Bukowski: Oh sorry, didn't know that lol
[13:04] Ina Centaur: art/culture scroll down to SL Globe Theatre ... but don't look at their photo! >.<
[13:04] Rob Bukowski: lol
[13:04] Ina Centaur: basically, we have good "natural traffic" daily
[13:05] Ina Centaur: when we hold events, traffic is typically 10,000+ if you add all parcels together
[13:05] Rob Bukowski: thats pretty good
[13:05] Ina Centaur: but, again, i think most SL merchants are wary of the difference between tourist/windowshopper kinds and SL-fashion-buying kinds
[13:05] AK Verne: so, seems events is something we have to create more
[13:05] Ina Centaur: so, to attract merchants (if they're paying rent, etc), we would need someone to help manage SL-fashion-shopper traffic.
[13:06] Ina Centaur: starting in march, we are hoping to put on another open-ended run of Twelfth Night - 2 shows/week indefinitely
[13:07] Ina Centaur: pixel players and others also regularly put on shows at our venues
[13:07] Ina Centaur: i'm also thinking of hosting Shakespeare Trivia or Shakespeare Bingo even btw...
[13:07] Rob Bukowski: That's a great idea!
[13:07] AvadaKedavra Serpente: that could be fun
[13:07] Ina Centaur: for sure, we can have good event-based traffic and natural traffic, but again, those might not be buying-traffic.
[13:08] Ina Centaur: dunno, Shakespeare Bingo might be buying-traffic... in that you'd need $L to play ;-)
[13:08] Asha Tharnaby: I think it costs nothing to major vendors to publicize your events. I could contact the owners of the most famous fashion stores in SL and ask them to support you
[13:08] Rob Bukowski: How about even something like chat nights, where people can come and discuss a particular shakespeare work?
[13:09] Rob Bukowski: discussion nights i mean
[13:09] Ina Centaur: asha, that sounds like a good idea.. btw what do you think of dropping something like http://SLshakespeare.com/sponsorship on them
[13:09] Ina Centaur: (sec .. digging up the inworld book version of that)
[13:09] Ina Centaur: one thing that i'm considering putting together is a 2010 version of that.. (the current benefits-sponsorship booklet is outdated, from December 2007!)
[13:09] Agatha Klees: lol
[13:10] Rob Bukowski: lol wow, thats like 2 years ago
[13:10] Agatha Klees accepted your inventory offer.
[13:10] AvadaKedavra Serpente accepted your inventory offer.
[13:10] Rob Bukowski accepted your inventory offer.
[13:10] Ina Centaur: inworld books take forever to load, so http://SLshakespeare.com/sponsorship has the web pdf and graphic versions
[13:10] Asha Tharnaby: Looks good
[13:11] Ina Centaur: ok, so Asha - if you're up for that, step 1 would be to compile lists of whom to ask (and perhaps even devise a system to re-poke them, in case SL inventory caps, etc.)
[13:11] Ina Centaur: also rob, would you be interested in hosting events @ Shakespeare?
[13:11] SLSC Meeting Daemon: OFlaherty Dreadlow clicked me...
[13:11] Ina Centaur: chat night... or chat with wrestling if we disagree nights (lol jk!)
[13:11] Agatha Klees: jeeeze!!! the spanish one is awful bad translated
[13:12] Rob Bukowski: sure. Maybe I can see if the wrestling group I am in would like to put on ashow here sometime.
[13:12] Ina Centaur: eek... would you volunteer to be a Spanish translator of our 2010 version?
[13:12] Agatha Klees: me, lol
[13:12] Asha Tharnaby: Yes, I have in mind a list
[13:12] Ina Centaur: don't worry, the booklet is typically short and sweet
[13:13] Asha Tharnaby: What about an italian version?
[13:13] Agatha Klees: I can translate it, for sure
[13:13] Ina Centaur: and yup, they're volunteer-translated... and they're kind of whomever-suggests-a-language-gets-to-have-it honor-code-we-hope-you-know-your-language-style-though-can't-really-check!
[13:13] Ina Centaur: heh >.<
[13:13] Ina Centaur: asha, would you be up for italian then?
[13:13] Agatha Klees: I can find some one can do it in portuguese
[13:13] Asha Tharnaby: I can translate it in italian if needed
[13:14] Ina Centaur: ok, so 2010 will have (readable!) italian, portuguese, spanish int'l versions at least ;-)
[13:14] Asha Tharnaby: :)
[13:14] Ina Centaur: these are some nice ideas - so in summary, there are these 3 ideas from the group today..
[13:15] Asha Tharnaby: Italians usually speak English badly, could appreciate much an Italian version ehehe
[13:15] Ina Centaur: 1) valentines dance (which we'll hopefully get to talk about later... maybe try posting ideas on the http://blog.SLshakespeare.com post on this)
[13:15] Ina Centaur: 2) reaching out to SL merchants, as either sponsors or advertisers ... and help on translating/distributing the new 2010 Benefits Bookleet (which i'll cook up and have ready for you by next week or sooner ;-))
[13:15] Agatha Klees: cool
[13:16] AvadaKedavra Serpente: I may be able to find someone to translate the booklet into Japanese..
[13:16] Ina Centaur: 3) events! ... wrestling, chat events, dance and other social events and fairs
[13:16] Asha Tharnaby: Let's do it :)
[13:16] Ina Centaur: oh japanese would be wonderful!
[13:17] Asha Tharnaby: Indeed
[13:17] Ina Centaur: yup, let's do it! :-)
[13:17] Ina Centaur: so, everyone set on their volunteer thing to do?
[13:18] Ina Centaur: primarily - merchant stuff, need to compile a list first... to reach out in two separate ways - ad banners, or just sponsor/donation with benefits
[13:18] Rob Bukowski: Yep. i will talk to the group owner tonight about hosting a show here
[13:18] Asha Tharnaby: beginning to make a list of major vendors...
[13:18] Ina Centaur: for events, well, any event is possible - we have lots of resources, just ask! - but, ideally you could help host or plan it
[13:18] Rob Bukowski: I have to get going for now. take care guys, i will get back to you Ina
[13:18] : Rob Bukowski has left their chair.
[13:18] Ina Centaur: thanks rob tc!
[13:19] Agatha Klees: I would love organize a fair, like vintage or jewerly, I think the sim would be perfect for that
[13:19] Agatha Klees: or a gorean one, lol
[13:19] Ina Centaur: to concludes this meeting, i'd like to invite you all to the Shakespeare's Theatre group, which will give you perms to rez - and it's also good for internal inworld communication (though it's also the actor's group with a few other uses, so you'd get other notices as well)
[13:20] Agatha Klees: yes, I would love that :))
[13:20] Ina Centaur: also, if you can drop me an email, we might try starting a googlegroup for this ina.centaur@gmail.com
[13:20] Ina Centaur: search-able internal discussion list :-)
[13:20] Agatha Klees: a google wave can work too
[13:20] AvadaKedavra Serpente: sounds good.
[13:20] Ina Centaur: agatha, vintage jewlery fair wouuld be awesome!! you can never have enough of timeless jewelry ;-)
[13:20] AvadaKedavra Serpente: damn straight
[13:21] Ina Centaur: wave as well! if you don't have wave, i still have lots of invites to give out lol
[13:21] Agatha Klees: and girls loves diamonds, lol!!!
[13:21] Ina Centaur: :-D
[13:22] Ina Centaur: so, i guess there'd be another list for you to make up - potential jewelers who might be all piqued up to participate in a vintage fashion fair ;-)
[13:22] Agatha Klees: i like it ?
[13:23] Asha Tharnaby: Thank you :)
[13:23] Ina Centaur: ok group invite sent! looks like most of the vocal people here today have names starting with A's
[13:23] Agatha Klees: thanks
[13:24] Agatha Klees: haha
[13:24] Ina Centaur: hmm ideas on group title?
[13:24] Asha Tharnaby: 'A' Power

[13:24] Ina Centaur: lol
[13:25] [SLSC] Pillars 7 Campaign Donation Kiosk: Thank you for your donation, OFlaherty Dreadlow!
[13:25] Ina Centaur: oh, and also, if you know others who'd like to participate but who can't make it to the meeting... feel free to tell them of it
[13:25] AK Verne: absolutely
[13:25] Ina Centaur: i'll be summarizing the meeting later today @ http://blog.SLshakespeare.com
[13:25] AK Verne: thank you
[13:25] Agatha Klees: thanks
[13:25] Ina Centaur: i think most of us like doing things more than holding meetings... so i don't think we'd have another meeting like this until Feb at least..
[13:25] Ina Centaur: i'm thinking of just using an email discussion list or the blog or google wave for discussion
[13:25] Ina Centaur: in-between
[13:26] Ina Centaur: (of course, also traditional IM and direct emails)
[13:26] AvadaKedavra Serpente: Good idea.
[13:26] Ina Centaur: so... i think i've addressed everything
[13:26] Asha Tharnaby: Just a little question: there are other theater companies in SL? We could help each other
[13:27] Ina Centaur: yup, there are!
[13:27] Ina Centaur: though the weird thing is that there's that RL rivalry stuff with competing theatres, but they seem to take it too seriously
[13:27] Asha Tharnaby: Oh
[13:27] Ina Centaur: but, we welcome all groups though -- lots of third parties have performed @ Shakespeare
[13:28] Ina Centaur: the other thing is funding.. we are the most well-funded theatre group on SL... but then, with the amount of *time* we put into fundraising, well, we should have something at least, you know? (lol)
[13:28] Ina Centaur: so i dunno, that might be another cause for discontent from other sl theatre companies... we are willing to share our resources though -- our wardrobe, venues, etc...
[13:28] : AK Verne has left their chair.
[13:29] AK Verne: well thank you so much... I have to go now... bye bye
[13:29] Ina Centaur: again, when people hold an event on any of the sLiterary sims (Primtings, Shakespeare, sLiterary) -- they've paid *no* fee to hold it
[13:29] Ina Centaur: all our venues are open for public events
[13:29] Ina Centaur: thanks ak, tc!
[13:30] AvadaKedavra Serpente: I need to run as well.. I'll mull over the VD dance ideas running around in my head and check the blog for discusssion
[13:30] Ina Centaur: hi oflaherty - welcome - the meeting is actually drawing to a close, but the agnda and some links are available if u click the black box behind me
